Authorities in our business will tell in no uncertain terms that Lorem Ipsum is that huge, huge no no to forswear forever. Not so fast, I'd say, there are some redeeming factors in favor of greeking text, as its use is merely the symptom of a worse problem to take into consideration.

Product care

Anyway, you still use Lorem Ipsum and rightly so, as it will always have a place in the web workers toolbox, as things happen, not always the way you like it, not always in the preferred order.

Grade 2 English Willow at a Glance

  • Appearance: Grade 2 in most cases has straighter grains, a cleaner face and more grains than Grade 3 or 3+. It may show a few small marks or slight colour variation, which are cosmetic only.
  • Durability & Strength: Strong, durable willow built for regular club and league cricket.
  • Preparation: Machine pre-knocked before dispatch. Give it a short finishing knock-in and a few throwdowns with older balls before match use.
  • Ideal For: Club and advanced players who want strong ping and performance close to higher grades, at a lower price.

Why Lepjag?

The Lepjag gives you big edges and power in a lightweight bat. Handcrafted in India from Grade 2 English Willow and weighing up to 1,190g, it picks up quickly, so you can time the ball and generate bat speed without forcing your shots.

A Duckbill profile with a mid-to-low sweet spot and minimal concaving keeps plenty of wood behind the ball for drives and lofted hits, while 38–40mm edges help mistimed shots still carry.

A Singapore cane handle absorbs shock against fast bowling, and the ring chevron grip gives a secure, non-slip feel through a long innings.

Why Wolfer?

Every Wolfer bat is hand picked by players who have actually played the game, not just factory workers ticking boxes.

Each bat is tested for weight, balance and ping before it's approved, so what reaches you is a bat that's actually been checked by someone who knows what a good pickup feels like.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Players who prefer a lightweight bat with big edges
  • Front-foot stroke players who rely on timing and bat speed
  • Club and advanced cricketers stepping up to a higher grade of English Willow
  • Batters on low to medium bounce pitches, including most UK club pitches
  • Aggressive top-order and T20 batters

Compare: Lepjag vs Tigon vs Leopon

All three are fully pressed, lightweight Wolfer bats with edges up to 40mm and a maximum weight of 1,190g. The Tigon steps up to Grade 1 for straight, almost parallel grains and a clean face. The Leopon is our select Grade 3+, for great value.

Appearance vs performance: Bat grading is based mainly on looks (the number of grains, how clean the face is, and the absence of knots or stains) rather than how hard the ball comes off the middle. A well-pressed Grade 2 bat can perform very close to a Grade 1.

Product Disclaimer

Cricket bats are handcrafted from natural English Willow, so each one is unique.

Weight: Each bat is weighed when it leaves the factory, with the grip on but before the branded stickers are applied. We aim to keep the final weight of all our bats under 1,190g, but local conditions such as moisture where the bat is shipped can increase or decrease the weight by a few grams.

Never store cricket bats in car boots or trunks as excessive heat may cause cracking and reduce bat life.

Each cricket bat is unique and may feature minor cosmetic variations.

Choose your bat size by height first, then age. If you are between two sizes, pick the smaller one: a bat that is too long is harder to control. The sizes available for this bat are shown in the options above Add to Cart.

Quick check: stand with the bat beside your leg, toe on the ground. The top of the handle should sit around the top of your thigh, at your hip. Sizes vary slightly between brands, so message us on WhatsApp if you are unsure.

A bat's profile is the shape of the blade from the side. It decides where the sweet spot sits and how light the bat feels to pick up. Match the profile to the way you score your runs.

Mid / Extended MidAll-rounders who play every format and want a big, forgiving sweet spot

Cricket Bat Care and Maintenance

A well-maintained cricket bat performs better and lasts longer.

Proper bat care helps protect the willow, and reduce the chance of avoidable damage.

Unattended cracks can lead to bat damage.

Too much moisture and extreme hot conditions are both bad for the bat.

How to examine if a bat has dried up?

  • Have a close look at your bat. The dried willow will lose all its shine and will look rough.
  • When your bat starts sounding off, the most probable cause: it has dried up.
  • What to do? Use a small amount of raw linseed oil on the face, edges, toe, and back of the bat.
  • Avoid the stickers, splice, and handle during application.
  • Apply oil lightly with a soft cloth or fingertips rather than soaking the willow.
  • Let the bat rest in a cool, dry place after oiling.
  • Two thin coats are usually enough for regular maintenance.
  • Never stand the bat in a vertical position after oiling. Always keep it horizontal for at least 24 hours after oiling.
  • Remember: A bat that retains moisture, performs the best.
  • A common misconception: Older bats do not need oiling.
  • Fact: Newer bats seldom need oiling.

Cricket Bat Storage, the correct way

  • Store your English Willow cricket bat in a cool, dry space away from direct sunlight and strong heat.
  • Keep it in a padded cover or case when not in use.
  • Avoid leaving it in damp kit bags or hot vehicle boots for extended periods.
  • If storing it long term, clean it properly and apply a light maintenance coat if needed.

When your bat needs attention

If the face starts looking dry, seam marks deepen quickly, or fine cracks begin to appear, stop use and inspect it carefully.

Small issues are easier to manage early, especially on a premium Wolfer English Willow cricket bat.

Knocking in your cricket bat

Your Lepjag bat is machine pre-knocked before dispatch. A short finishing knock-in by hand is still recommended, as it prepares the willow for match impact by gradually compressing the fibres.

This helps the blade handle repeated ball contact more effectively and lowers the chance of early damage.

Manual knocking in

  • Use a proper bat mallet or an older cricket ball for controlled preparation.
  • Start with gentle taps on the face, do not knock the edges, round them using your mallet's handle, be gentle on the toe.
  • Avoid striking the splice or handle directly.
  • Increase pressure gradually over multiple sessions instead of rushing it.
  • Focus on even preparation across the blade.

How long the process should take

A proper knocking-in process should take place over several hours and across multiple sessions.

Even if your English Willow bat feels strong out of the box, it still benefits from a careful preparation phase before full match use.

Before full match play

After knocking in, use the bat in throwdowns or light net sessions with older balls before facing harder new balls.

This final stage helps confirm that your English Willow bat is ready while allowing the willow to settle naturally.

The bat packs a punch. It has dead weight but the pickup makes it feel less than 1100 grams. I have ordered another Custom Made bat with them for the main season. Fairly impressed with my Lepjag for now. Quick Mention: Great customer service, they were very patient with my queries.

A teammate of mine who recently moved from India to the states was using a Wolfer and hitting 'em out of the park. Tbh I had never heard of their name, but once I used my mate's bat in the nets, I decided to give them a go. Order a Lepjag, same bat that my friend plays with and mine has even thicker edges. I connected with them on WhatsApp and they were very helpful. Now that I am satisfied, I am going to order for my club the next season. They guy on the WhatsApp told me they have some great bulk deals. Satisfied

Is a Grade 2 English Willow cricket bat good?+−

Yes. Grade 2 gives strong ping and durability, close to higher grades, at a lower price than Grade 1. Willow grading is mostly about appearance, so a well-pressed Grade 2 bat can perform very close to a Grade 1.

What is the difference between Grade 1 and Grade 2 English Willow?+−

Grade 1 has straight, almost parallel grains and a clean face with no stains or butterfly marks. Grade 2 may show a few small marks or slight colour variation. The difference is mainly cosmetic. Compare with our Tigon Grade 1.

What is the difference between Grade 2 and Grade 3+?+−

Grade 2 in most cases has straighter grains, a cleaner face and more grains than Grade 3 or 3+. Compare with our Leopon Grade 3+.

How many grains does the Lepjag have?+−

In most cases more grains than Grade 3 or 3+, and straighter. The count varies from bat to bat, so message us on WhatsApp for details of current stock.

Lepjag vs Tigon: which should I choose?+−

Both are lightweight Duckbill bats with 38–40mm edges. Choose the Lepjag for great value Grade 2 willow. Choose the Tigon for Grade 1 willow with a clean face and straight, almost parallel grains.

Is a Grade 2 bat good for club cricket?+−

Yes. With 38–40mm edges the Lepjag complies with MCC Law 5, so it can be used in league and club matches played under the MCC Laws. It suits club and advanced cricketers.

Do international players use Grade 2 bats?+−

Professional players usually use Grade 1 or player-grade willow, chosen for appearance and consistency. Grade 2 is made for club and advanced cricket, where it gives performance close to higher grades at a lower price.

Do blemishes affect the life of the bat?+−

No. Marks such as specks or slight colour variation are cosmetic and do not usually shorten a bat's life. How long a bat lasts depends far more on knocking in, oiling when the willow looks dry, and storage. See the Maintenance tab.

What is the bat weight?+−

The Wolfer Lepjag cricket bat weighs up to 1,190g (2lb 10oz). Each bat is weighed when it leaves the factory, with the grip on but before the stickers are applied. Local conditions such as moisture can change the weight by a few grams.
